Faction: Tyranids, Hive Fleet Vitsika
++Excerpt from report made by Helena Von Junzt, High Inquisitor: Ordo Xenos, upon the fall of Eldritch V++
A fascinating strain of the Tyranid Scourge, Hive Fleet Vitsika is a splinter of the Eastern swarm known as “Gorgon,” renowned for it’s incredible ability to mutate rapidly in response to a new threat.
The new fleet is considered to be a Xenos Abnormalis by the Emperor’s Holy Inquisition. While all Tyranid Synapse creatures are more or less capable of some measure of complex thought, the Psykers of Vitsika seem not only to be driven by their species’ characteristic lust for food and reproduction, but are attracted to psychic activity in all it’s forms (as such, I’ve taken to wearing a Psychic hood when studying them, it renders me almost invisible, but I daresay it dampens my latent abilities…)
I’ve theorized that their unique Zoanthrope subspecies (Tyrannicus cerebrum vitsikaensis) have spurred the development of some form of brood sentience, perhaps one that is powered by psychic activity. Observations of foraging Tyranids on Eldritch V have revealed that captured Psykers of the Sons of Fulgrim were fed alive to a shoal of Synapse creatures, who seemed to devour the vile sorcerer's Brain with as much vigor as his mystical artifacts...
Observed on the forefront of the Swarm’s resurgence is Lilith, the Hive Tyrant that seems to be built from the genetic template of The Swarmlord. Lilith is notable for previously single-handedly causing the dissipation of an entire Ork Waagh by decapitating the Warboss and feasting on his Nobs.
